PMI Malaysia Chapter is proud to host a half-day seminar in the Northern Region to be held on 30th March 2017. We have invited established academics, Professor Poon and Dr Ali, from premier Universities in Malaysia to share some of their Project Management research with us during the event.

We have also invited Ms Hetal Doshi to this event and share her insightful views on human psychology in relation to Project Management !

Professor Derek Hin-Fei POON

Graduated with a degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the University of Malaya, Malaysia and later in career obtained an MBA from the Henley Business School, UK

More than 25 years experience in industry with different multinational companies spanning different industries and different countries in different positions starting as Engineer to both functional and line management to CEO positions. Experienced in Technical Management, Marketing and Sales Management, Plant and Operations Management and General Management. Specifically, in projects, have developed products, launched products, build plants, upgraded plants, managed project management office, designed and implemented IT projects, trained project managers, conducted feasibility studies, participated in steering committees etc. for projects in excess of US$200 million.

Joined HELP University ELM Graduate School in 2014 to champion the Master of Project Management program. Secured Accreditation for the program from the PMI Global Accreditation Center, the first program in South East Asia to receive such Accreditation.



Ms Hetal Doshi

Hetal Doshi holds a Masters in Organisational Psychology from Macquarie University (Sydney, Australia), Honours in Psychology (Second Upper Class of Honours) from Murdoch University (Perth, Australia) and a Bachelors of Arts majoring in Psychology from the National University of Singapore (Singapore). She is a Certified Coach and a HRDF Certified trainer. She also is a certified user ofseveral personalityprofiling tools including MBTI, DISC, Management Potential
Evaluation (MPE,), Facet 5, SHL and Genesys.

Hetal has been in the business of organizational psychology for over 8 years with a focus on people consulting, transformation, facilitation, development, coaching, assessment centres and crisis. Her expertise lies in structuring blueprints for transformation and using emotional intelligence as a technique to magnetize people towards company goals. She has worked with individuals of varying job levels. Her work has taken her to countries and cities inclding Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Manila, Mumbai, Perth, Singapore, Shanghai, Sydney and Thailand. She has worked successfully with clients including 1 Utama, Air Asia, Amdocs, Astro, Averis, Bank Islam, Bank Muamalat, Bank Negara Malaysia, Bank of China, Colgate, Coway, CHC, Digi Telecommunications, DHL, Ernst & Yang, Entegris, Etiqa, GFK, Givaudan, Intel, Infineon, iPerintis, Imigresan Malaysia, Infosys, Jabil, Johnson & Johnson, Kementerian Dalam Negeri, Kimberly Clark, Lim Kok Wing University, Mahsa College, Malakoff, MIDA, MISC Berhad, Monash University, Nettium, OCBC Bank, Sarawak Energy, Sepang International Circuit, Silterra, T-Systems, UMW Toyota, USG Boral,Upeca, Wah Seong Corporation.

Most recently, Hetal has co-founded a media company, NextUp Asia with three other partners. NextUp Asia is an online business channel that aims to produce video content that features leaders, influencers and experts who focus on business, innovation and people.



Dr Ali Alashwal

Dr. Ali Alashwal is a Senior Lecturer in the University of Malaya. He has extensive experience in research in different areas related to project management such as project learning, knowledge management, and international construction projects. He has been the principal investigator and co-researcher of several research projects in these areas. Dr. Ali Alashwal has numerous publications in referred journals and conference proceedings. He has published two book on project learning and simulation of pre-cast concrete production line. Prior to joining the academia, Dr. Ali Alashwal worked as an architect for about 4 years. He completed various architectural designs as well as consultancy works for the World Bank to develop education in rural areas in Yemen.






Corina Tan

Corina comes with a vast experience in the service Industry ranging from telecommunications, banking, credit cards and IT industries. She is a Dell veteran of 17 years and have been managing various Asia Pacific and Global Organizations. Currently, she is leading the APJ CSB Sales Operations Organization and primary role is to enable the sales organization to achieve the business revenue, margin and more importantly, highest level of customer experience. 
She also holds an additional role as the General Manager of Penang site.
