SUMMARY:Project Management Day of Service (PMDoS2024)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar Overview: \nThis year in conjunction of PMIMY 30th Anniversary\, we bring over Project Management Day of Service (PMDOS®) first time ever to Malaysia !! Five participated organisations are submitting their problem statements\, and we are seeking volunteer consultants to help evaluate these submissions and provide valuable insights/solutions into helping resolve these problems for them. \nWhat is PMDoS? \nLaunched in 2015\, the Project Management Day of Service (PMDOS®) started out as a one-day community service event in a single location in the Washington\, D.C.\, metropolitan area. It has been launched at locations across the U.S. and around the world including: Hampton Roads\, Virginia; New York City; Atlanta\, Georgia; San Francisco\, California; St. Louis\, Missouri; Brisbane\, Australia; Melbourne\, Australia; Sydney\, Australia; Wellington\, U.K.; Wellington\, New Zealand; Auckland\, New Zealand; and Gdansk\, Poland. \n  \nPMDOS® events provide nonprofits with pro bono (free\, professional) project management services to help them address their most difficult challenges. \nWe do this by bringing together local project managers (PM volunteers) with nonprofits who are passionate about serving  their communities. \nThe PM volunteers help the nonprofits to scope and plan projects that enable the nonprofits to do more to serve their communities. \n  \nHow is Works? \nEach nonprofit is paired with a team of experienced project managers through a “matching” process. \nAdditional subject matter experts (SMEs) from various professions (e.g.\, marketing\, finance\, technology\, etc.) may also be available for consultation as needed. \nProject managers and nonprofit representatives spend one or more days (depending on the location of the event) scoping and  planning a project to address a critical need of the nonprofit\, and the nonprofit leaves with an actionable plan. \n  \nKey Learning Takeaways: \nAs a consultant\, your role will be crucial in liaising with the participated organisations to provide a solution to their problems or initiatives. \nWhat Is Provided: \n\nThe problem statement from participated organisations will be provided in advance for consultants to start prep works.\nInitiation call between selected consultants and participated organisations to formally introduce each other and get familiarized before the event day.\nDedicated workspace for consultants and participated organisations on event day to sit together and work through the problem statement.\nFacilitate follow-through calls/meetings between consultants and participated organisations post event day\, as and when required to evaluate feasibility of proposed solutions.\n\nCommitment from Consultants: \n\n\n\nExperience in project management or a related field.\nAvailability to review and evaluate problem statements within the two-week period before event day up till one month after event day.\nA passion for mentoring and giving back to the community.\n\n\n\nPrice: \nSponsorship – RM 2000 \nDate: 8 Nov 2024\, Friday \nTime: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm \nYou will get 9 PDU ! \n[REGISTER HERE]

SUMMARY:PMI Chapter Xchange Event : Mastering Art of Communication in Project Management
DESCRIPTION:Webinar Overview: \nEffective communication is essential for successful project management. It ensures that all team members\, stakeholders\, and clients are aligned and informed throughout the project lifecycle. Key elements include setting clear objectives and expectations from the outset\, which involves defining goals\, documenting requirements\, and outlining responsibilities. Active listening is crucial; project managers should encourage open dialogue\, engage team members\, and create a feedback loop that promotes continuous improvement. \nRegular updates through consistent meetings and clear reports help maintain alignment and address potential issues promptly. Adaptability in communication styles is important to meet the needs of different stakeholders and situations. Conflict resolution should be handled constructively to maintain team cohesion. \nLeveraging technology\, such as project management tools and communication platforms\, can streamline information sharing and collaboration. Visual aids like Gantt charts and dashboards help simplify complex information and represent project progress visually. Cultural sensitivity is vital\, as it ensures inclusive communication by being aware of and respecting cultural differences within the team. \nDeveloping contingency plans for crisis communication ensures clear protocols during emergencies\, and maintaining transparency with stakeholders is essential. Mastering these communication skills allows project managers to effectively lead their teams\, address challenges promptly\, and deliver successful projects. \nJoin us for a thought-provoking panel discussion as we explore the critical question: How to master the Art of Communication in project management?” \nThis is a #pmichapterXchange collaborative event of 33-way collaboration between the PMI Chapters of; Mumbai\, Netherlands\, South Africa\, Sri Lanka\, Phoenix\, New Zealand\, Zimbabwe\, Indonesia\, Gujarat\, Lima Peru\, Southern Alberta\, Sao Paulo\, Kenya\, Ghana\, Greece\, Puget Sound\, Poland\, Alaska\, United Arab Emirates\, Bangladesh\, Nigeria\, Cameroon\, Luxembourg\, Turkiye\, PMI Jalisco\, PMI Taipei; Madrid Spain; PMI Malaysia\, PMI Vietnam and PMI Mangolia\, PMI Guayas\,  PMI Bajio and PMI Ivory Coast \nThis event is open to everyone\, regardless of your experience or expertise in project management. SUMMARY:PMI Chapter Xchange Event Emotional Intelligence in Project Management
DESCRIPTION:  \nWebinar Overview: \nEmotional Intelligence (EI) is crucial in project management\, profoundly affecting team dynamics\, leadership effectiveness\, and overall project success. Project managers with high EI possess the ability to understand and regulate their emotions\, as well as recognize and influence the emotions of their team members. This leads to improved communication\, as they can convey messages clearly and empathetically\, reducing misunderstandings and fostering a positive work environment. \nEnhanced team collaboration is another significant benefit of high EI in project management. By addressing the emotional needs and concerns of team members\, emotionally intelligent project managers create a supportive and cohesive team atmosphere. This not only boosts morale but also enhances productivity and innovation\, as team members feel valued and motivated to contribute their best work. \nConflict resolution is more effective with high EI. Project managers who can empathize with different perspectives and manage their emotional responses are better equipped to facilitate constructive discussions and find mutually agreeable solutions. This helps in maintaining a harmonious team environment and preventing conflicts from escalating. \nLeadership and influence are deeply intertwined with EI. Emotionally intelligent project managers inspire and motivate their teams by connecting on a personal level\, building trust\, and demonstrating genuine care for their well-being. Additionally\, they are better at managing stress\, both for themselves and their teams\, ensuring that challenges are handled with resilience and composure. In summary\, EI is essential for successful project management\, driving effective communication\, collaboration\, conflict resolution \nJoin us for a thought-provoking panel discussion as we explore the critical question: What is the importance of Emotional Intelligence in project management?” \nThis is a #pmichapterXchange collaborative event of 32-way collaboration between the PMI Chapters of; Mumbai\, Netherlands\, South Africa\, Sri Lanka\, Phoenix\, New Zealand\, Zimbabwe\, Indonesia\, Gujarat\, Lima Peru\, Southern Alberta\, Sao Paulo\, Kenya\, Ghana\, Greece\, Puget Sound\, Poland\, Alaska\, United Arab Emirates\, Bangladesh\, Nigeria\, Cameroon\, Luxembourg\, Turkiye\, PMI Jalisco\, PMI Taipei; Madrid Spain; PMI Malaysia\, PMI Vietnam and PMI Mangolia\, PMI Guayas and PMI Bajio. SUMMARY:PMI Chapter Xchange Event: Ethics and regulations in Project Management
DESCRIPTION:Webinar Overview: \nEthics and regulations in project management are critical for ensuring integrity\, accountability\, and success in projects. Ethical conduct in project management involves adhering to a set of moral principles that guide decision-making and behavior. This includes honesty\, transparency\, fairness\, respect\, and responsibility. Project managers must avoid conflicts of interest\, protect confidential information\, and deliver on promises while maintaining professional standards. \nRegulations in project management encompass the rules and guidelines set by governing bodies\, professional organizations\, and industry standards. These regulations ensure that projects comply with legal requirements\, safety standards\, and contractual obligations. Key regulatory frameworks include the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct\, which outlines the expectations for project managers’ behavior\, and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards like ISO 21500\, which provides guidance on project management principles and processes. \nAdhering to ethics and regulations helps build trust with stakeholders\, mitigates risks\, and enhances the reputation of both the project manager and the organization. It also ensures that projects are conducted in a manner that is socially responsible and sustainable. Ultimately\, integrating ethical practices and regulatory compliance into project management leads to more effective and efficient project outcomes\, fostering a culture of excellence and integrity. \nJoin us for a thought-provoking panel discussion as we explore the critical question: What is the importance of ethics and regulations in project management?” \nThis is a #pmichapterXchange collaborative event of 32-way collaboration between the PMI Chapters of; Mumbai\, Netherlands\, South Africa\, Sri Lanka\, Phoenix\, New Zealand\, Zimbabwe\, Indonesia\, Gujarat\, Lima Peru\, Southern Alberta\, Sao Paulo\, Kenya\, Ghana\, Greece\, Puget Sound\, Poland\, Alaska\, United Arab Emirates\, Bangladesh\, Nigeria\, Cameroon\, Luxembourg\, Turkiye\, PMI Jalisco\, PMI Taipei; Madrid Spain; PMI Malaysia\, PMI Vietnam and PMI Mongolia Chapter\, PMI Guayas and PMI Bajio\, PMI Galicia. \nLearning Takeaways: \nUnderstanding the importance of ethics and regulations in project management. \nSpeaker: \n\nOlivier Lazar (USA)\nAndre Barcaui (Brazil)\nOliver Chitsamatsanga (Zimbabwe)\nCecilia Clara Garcia (Canada)\nJames Quach (Vietnam)\nNihal Premachandra (Sri Lanka)\n\nPrice: \nFree for ALL \nDate: 21 June 2024\, Friday \nTime: 10:00 pm to 12:00 am \nYou will get 1.5 PDU ! \n[REGISTER HERE]

SUMMARY:PMI Chapter Xchange Event: Project Managers as Strategic Leaders
DESCRIPTION:Webinar Overview\nProject managers serve as the linchpins of project execution\, orchestrating the intricate dance of timelines\, resources\, and objectives. But beyond the tactical realm lies a higher plane of leadership — that of the strategic visionary. In this elevated role\, project managers transcend the mere mechanics of task delegation and progress tracking to become architects of organizational success. \nAt the heart of strategic leadership is a deep understanding of the broader context in which projects operate. Project managers must possess a keen awareness of industry trends\, market dynamics\, and competitive landscapes. Armed with this knowledge\, they can chart a course that aligns project objectives with overarching business goals\, ensuring that every task undertaken contributes meaningfully to the organization’s bottom line. \nIn essence\, project managers who embrace their role as strategic leaders transcend the confines of their job titles to become catalysts for organizational transformation. They navigate the complexities of the modern business landscape with wisdom and foresight\, guiding their teams toward a future filled with possibility and promise. \nJoin us for a thought-provoking panel discussion as we explore the critical question: What is the role of PM as Strategic leader? \nThis is a #pmichapterXchange collaborative event of 30-way collaboration between the PMI Chapters of; Mumbai\, Netherlands\, South Africa\, Sri Lanka\, Phoenix\, New Zealand\, Zimbabwe\, Indonesia\, Gujarat\, Lima Peru\, Southern Alberta\, Sao Paulo\, Kenya\, Ghana\, Greece\, Puget Sound\, Poland\, Alaska\, United Arab Emirates\, Bangladesh\, Nigeria\, Cameroon\, Luxembourg\, Türkiye\, PMI Jalisco\, PMI Taipei; Madrid Spain; PMI Malaysia\, PMI Vietnam and PMI Mongolia! \nIn discussion with\, PMI Guayas and PMI Galicia. \n#PMIChapterXchange #PMIcXpS5E4 \nLearning Takeaways\n\nDetermining the best fit approaches for a project.\nUnderstanding the intricacies of each methodology to craft a tailored approach that aligns with project goals and constraints.\n\nSpeaker List\n\n\n\n \nName\nLinkedIn Profile\nCountry\n\n\nGuest Speaker\nDr. Danny Chung\nhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/dr-danny-chung-3a668b5/\nHongkong\n\n\nPanelist\nMarie-Rose DAYA TCHANGOUM\nhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/marie-rose-daya-tchangoum-pmp-71857625/\nCameroon\n\n\nPanelist\nDr. Mohammad Ichsan\nhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/mohammadichsan/\nIndonesia\n\n\nPanelist\nRichard Woodham\nhttp://linkedin.com/in/richard-woodham-0048682\nLuxembourg\n\n\nPanelist\nOyunbileg Erendoo\nhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/oyunbileg-erendoo-0a84b250/\nMongolia\n\n\nPanelist\nCindy Wells\nhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/cindy-stowe-wells\nPuget Sound\, USA\n\n\n\nPrice: FOC for both Members and Non-Members \nDate: 17-May 2024\, Friday \nTime: 10:00 pm to 12:00 pm (Malaysia Time) \nPDU: 1.5 PDU \nRegister QR code \n \n[REGISTER HERE]

SUMMARY:MASTERING POWER SKILLS: THE UNTOLD STORY OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT SUCCESS
DESCRIPTION:Project management aims to deliver successful projects\, yet statistics reveal that over 60% fail to meet their objectives. This high failure rate often prompts the question of why so many projects do not succeed. Common discourse in the field\, influenced by countless studies and expert opinions\, usually revolves around two main causes: technology and human factors. \nFrom my extensive experience\, including a significant role in the RM 6 billion New Generation Patrol Vessel (NGPV) project from 2000 to 2014\, it has become evident that human factors predominantly drive project failures. This view is supported by over 80% of participants in my project management courses\, who also identify human elements as the primary hurdle. The insights of Zachary Wong in his book ‘Human Factors in Project Management’ resonate with this perspective\, underscoring the crucial impact of human dynamics in project settings. \nResearch consistently shows that human factors are fundamental to project outcomes\, yet assimilating this knowledge into actionable strategies remains a challenge. The concept of ‘Intellectual Obesity’—an overload of information without sufficient application—hinders effective change. Recent trends\, such as PMI’s 2023 ‘Pulse of the Profession’ report\, emphasize the importance of Power Skills (formerly known as Soft Skills)\, highlighting their critical role in enhancing the behavioral competencies of project management teams to improve project performance. This shift marks a vital recognition of the need to focus on and develop these skills to better manage and sustain project success. \n  \n\n\nSpeaker : Major Dr Prebagaran Jayaraman (R)\nMajor Dr. J. Prebagaran (R)\, a distinguished Project Manager and Learning Experience Designer\, has garnered a wealth of hands-on experience over a notable 33-year career in Learning & Development and Project Management. From 2000 to 2014\, he was a pivotal team member in the Multi-Billion Ringgit New Generation Patrol Vessel Project\, where his direct involvement significantly contributed to its success. This extensive project experience is underpinned by his strong academic background\, holding a PhD from UTM in Engineering Business Management\, focusing on Project Management\, and being a certified PMP and PMI-RMP. \nMajor Praba’s role in military and corporate sectors\, notably as Head of Marine Technology Academy at Boustead Naval Shipyard for a decade\, showcases his leadership in managing high-value\, complex projects. His current post-doctoral research at UTM in Learning Effectiveness reflects his ongoing commitment to education and professional growth. \nAn accredited ILM Competency Professional and seasoned facilitator across multiple countries\, Major Praba excels in crafting engaging learning environments that foster growth and improvement. His international accolades and multilingual capabilities in Bahasa Melayu and English enhance his versatile training sessions\, making him a sought-after educator and speaker. For more about his professional offerings\, visit www.prebagaran.my. \n  \nPRICE \nMember= FOC (Members Must Login to get 100% discount!)\nNon-member= RM20 \nLEARNING TAKEAWAY \nLet’s explore the answer to these questions: \n1.What are Power Skills in the context of Project Management? \n2.
