Ir.Ts.Rajakumar A Gopal PMP®
Rajakumar A Gopal has 25 years of working experience in Power Plant, Renewable Energy and Oil & Gas industries as Developer, EPC Contractor and Main Contractor. Out of which 20 years’ experience in Project Management roles, 4 years of company operations as COO and Head of Operations and 5 years in Design/Engineering works. Currently he is attached with Edra Power Holdings Sdn.Bhd. as Vice President of Group Project based in Kuala Lumpur. He is responsible for Projects execution and involved in Asset O&M matters including overall Project deliveries, P&L, tendering, planning, resources management, contracts and commercial management. Also as the Lead under Group Business Development for greenfield and brownfield developments of renewable energy Projects mainly Solar Plants including Large Scale Solar (LSS) in Malaysia and ASEAN region.
He has accreditations from various professional bodies including certification as Project Management Professional (PMP®), Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate (PEPC), Professional Technologist (P.Tech), ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE), Senior Member Institution of Engineer Malaysia (SMIEM), ASEAN Engineer (AE), International Professional Engineer - IntPE(MY) and APEC Engineer.
He holds Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) Mechanical and Master of Engineering (Mechanical) from University Malaya. Currently pursuing doctorate in management with an established university.
He has extensive experience working as Project Manager and Project Director handling various large construction Projects in Power Plant and Oil & Gas industries. Also, his experience as Head of Operations and Chief Operating Officer with a public listed company in Malaysia, has helped him to succeed in his current position. He is a strong believer that every challenge is an opportunity in disguise. Everyone deserves to prove their capabilities upon given the right opportunity.
How do you typically overcome the challenges of executing large construction Projects using Project Management knowledge and experience? Most of the times, failing to plan your Project execution from the very beginning and to foresee the risks associate with the works can lead to failure of the Project. This sharing of experience of Project execution of a large construction of power project will provide an overview of the challenges and resolutions which can be applied across other Projects of the same nature.
