Speaker Brief:

Dr. Syahrul is a Senior Manager in Tenaga Nasional Berhad. With almost 15 years of professional experience in the electricity industry and relevant academic background, Dr. Syahrul is a technically proficient project manager, experience in research, strategy, business transformation and turnaround focusing on sustainability and energy transition. 

He holds PhD in Energy Systems from The University of Edinburgh, UK. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Professional Technologist.

Throughout his career, he held various positions in power distribution, electricity retail business and corporate, leading key projects and programmes. He is always passionate to connect strategy into implementation by applying project management approach.

He believes in the importance of putting knowledge into practice and, the blend of both will steepened the learning curve.



The pandemic situation has forced the businesses to review their strategies as well as reallocating their investment for the upturn. Various strategic options were deployed including transformation programs, turnaround plan and M&A to accelerate growth. With uncertainty is the new certainty, project manager must be able to adapt the ever changing project landscape. The challenges of managing project during quarantine with many limitations can also potentially turn into opportunities if we are adaptive enough. Hence the success of the project could be higher.


This session will revisit the typical challenges in project management. What has changed during pandemic? How to adapt to this new reality?
