2015/2016 PMIMY President's Address

Dear Members, Friends, Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is with great honour and humility that I assume the role of the President for the term of 2015/2016. I commit to lead the chapter with the highest standards and uphold the chapter by laws.

Over the past 20 years the PMI Malaysia Chapter has played the role of bringing the Malaysian Project Management community together through its various volunteer driven events and initiatives. Today our chapter is represented by a strong membership of 537 members and a community of more than 3,000  Project Management practitioners including PMI credential holders throughout Malaysia.  It is important to acknowledge the effort of our past leaders and volunteers who have guided us to through this journey.

Our deepest gratitude goes to our immediate past President, Mr. Robert Gan who lead the chapter for the last 4 years, including contributions for over 10 years in various elected positions. On behalf of the Chapter, our incoming Board of Directors and PMI, we would like to record our thanks and appreciation to Robert for his contributions to the Chapter and the Malaysian project management community.

I would like to congratulate and introduce our newly elected governing council for 2015/2016. Four members are new additions to the Board, whilst four of us have retained their previous portfolios and two of us have stepped up into new roles.

In these first months, our immediate priority is rejuvenating our membership by maintaining growth, addressing attrition through stronger membership value and bringing back the disenfranchised members through our renewed outreach initiatives. To understand your views better, we will be conducting a chapter survey and we look forward to receiving your feedback to help shape our initiatives better. Make your opinions count.

We look forward to your continued strong support of the chapter events and meetings. The chapter will continue its focus in organising quality events, creating networking opportunities, collaborations and the annual Symposium. We welcome you to reach out to us at these events, and through email or social media.

Come join us to shape your Chapter. We are a fully volunteer driven not-for-profit organisation and welcome you to volunteer to make our chapter initiatives successful. Soon, the chapter will introduce the VRMS volunteering portal to automate the process of volunteer engagement with the chapter.

Our commitment is in creating and delivering value to our membership, and the project management community at large.

Thank you for your support.
