2025 PMI MY President's Address

Good day!

My name is Francis Koh, and I am your Chapter President for the term 2025/2026.

I am pleased to address you as the newly elected President of the PMI Malaysia Chapter. I feel honour, privilege to serve and truly excited to take on this important role and look forward to working closely with all of you to continue the growth and success of our chapter.

First and foremost, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Board of Directors for the trust and confidence they have placed in me. Project management has long been a passion of mine, not only for its strategic value to organizations but also for its transformative impact on individuals and communities. As your President, I am deeply committed to fostering a vibrant, forward-looking, and inclusive chapter—one that continues to empower professionals at every stage of their project management journey.

I am pleased to introduce the newly appointed Board of Directors who will be working alongside me to further the mission of PMI Malaysia. Among the 11 elected council members, we welcome three new Directors to the team:

  • Henry Lee, who will lead the Sustainability Project Excellence initiative,
  • Ramachandran, who will serve as Secretary and lead the Partnership Tribe, and
  • Davis Mok, who will spearhead our efforts in enhancing the Volunteer Experience.

Together, we form a committed and capable leadership team, each bringing unique expertise and a shared vision for the future of our Chapter. I am confident that with this renewed leadership, we will successfully deliver on our strategic initiatives, achieve meaningful impact, and continue to build on the strong foundation laid by our predecessors.

 I am also pleased to announce the appointment of our Directors at Large (Non-Council)—a vital group of leaders who play a key role in broadening the inclusivity and reach of our Chapter. Their contributions will be instrumental in ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs and expectations of our members.

We warmly welcome:

  • Mr. Jason Lau, leading the Membership Tribe,
  • Mr. Ramjee, overseeing our IT and Digital Infrastructure,
  • Mr. Liew Kee Fung, heading the Major Events Tribe,
  • Ms. Watana and Ms. Gayathiri, who are graciously leading the Women in Project Management and Social Impact tribes, respectively.

We are truly fortunate to have such a talented and passionate group of individuals joining our leadership team, and I look forward to collaborating closely with each of them.

Additionally, we welcome our newly appointed auditors for 2025, Ms. Sook Leng Low and Mr. Azril Yusri Bin Md Yusup. We thank them for their willingness to serve and look forward to working with them in the year ahead.

In 2025, our Chapter aspires to become the leading voice of project management within the industry. To realize this vision, we have defined three strategic objectives:

  • Establish Thought Leadership – by sharing insights, best practices, and innovative approaches that shape the future of project management.
  • Leverage Strategic Partnerships and Signature Events – to strengthen collaboration, expand our reach, and create meaningful engagement opportunities.
  • Build Industry Influence Through Digital Media – by enhancing our presence, relevance, and visibility across digital platforms to connect with a broader audience.

Looking ahead, I would like to highlight some exciting changes and events that will shape the future of PMI Malaysia:

Single Membership Model

Starting from February 28, 2025, we have introduced a Single Membership Model. This change will simplify our membership structure, making it easier for members to access resources and participate in events, ensuring that we continue to offer the best value to you as part of the PMI community.

Upcoming Major Events

There are many exciting events on the horizon that I encourage you all to participate in:

  • PRISM 2025: This prestigious event will connects project management professionals from various industries, fostering engaging interactions, promoting networking opportunities and driving knowledge exchange. The theme for this year event is “Bionic Edge: Human and AI Collaboration for Sustainable Project Success”. We are eager to the key insights and learning on Sustainability, AI in Project Management, Change management and Leadership with our community.
  • Project Management Award- IGNITE: We will be recognizing and honouring excellence in project management through our Project Management Award-IGNITE. This event highlights the best of the best, inspiring all of us to strive for greater heights in our work.
  • Project Management Day of Service: Our Project Management Day of Service is an incredible opportunity for us to give back to the community by utilizing our skills and expertise in project management to make a difference.
  • PMP Study Group: For those working towards PMP certification, we will continue to offer our PMP Study Group, providing the support and resources needed to succeed in this challenging certification.
  • Learning Opportunities: In addition to these events, we will also provide a variety of learning opportunities. We are planning a series of webinars and physical engagement activities to help you grow professionally. Whether you’re seeking new skills, insights, or strategies, we are committed to supporting your learning and development every step of the way.

Networking Opportunities

Finally, I would like to encourage you to take advantage of our Cozy Coffee Corner events, which will be held on a monthly basis. These informal meetups are designed to foster networking, exchange ideas, and create connections within our community. Whether you’re a new member or a seasoned professional, the Cozy Coffee Corner is a great way to engage with like-minded individuals and build your network.

In closing, I want to thank each and every one of you for being a part of this chapter. As your new President, I am committed to working with all of you to elevate the PMI Malaysia Chapter to new heights. Together, we will continue to inspire and empower the next generation of project management leaders.

Let’s look forward to an exciting and successful year ahead. I am truly excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, and I can’t wait to embark on this journey with all of you.
